Sidley well beaten

Sidley CC  135 (38 overs)  - 4 points

St. Peter's 4th XI  136-2 (31.2 overs)  - 30 points

Sidley were brought back down to earth in no uncertain terms in a difficult home match against the league leaders, St. Peter's. Sidley were put in to bat, and only Josh Bull (64) managed to show the form required against some steady bowling. The asking total of 135 was never likely to pose a serious challenge to the visiting side.

In reply, the St. Peter's early order batsmen applied themselves in focused and deliberate fashion to ensure victory and maximum points in 31.2 overs. Unfortunately, several dropped catches compounded the Sidley disappointment. In contrast, six Sidley batsmen had earlier been out caught.

Next week, league matches change to a limited 40-overs-per-side format for the second half of the season, with various bowling and fielding restrictions. Sidley's first game under these rules is a home fixture against Glynde and Beddingham 3rd XI.
