Sidley v. Bexhill 5th XI

Sidley win last game of the season to finish 2nd in league!

After the previous week's disappointing defeat to DPB (Eastbourne) 2nd XI, where we were all out for 93 in 29 overs, with 27 extras to flatter our total (Ian Mollart contributing 23 runs and Craig Ramsden 21), and the opposition reaching the total with just one wicket to spare (Jim Stewart 3-18; Stuart Craig 2-20 and Andy Pearson 2-20), Sidley bounced back on Saturday with a convincing win against neighbours Bexhill.

Sidley: 196-9 (50 overs)

(Ian Vye 28; Peter Capon 25; Craig Ramsden 46; Josh Bull 26; Stuart Craig 16* and Jamie Ramsden 11*)

Bexhill 5th XI:  156 all out (29 overs)   (ex-Sidley player Liam Bryant 60!)

(Jamie Ramsden 4-29; Ian Reynolds 4-35; Craig Ramsden 2-57)

This wins secures promotion to Division 10, and enables the club to consider entering another side in a lower division next year.

Congratulations to all those who have made this such a successful season after the demise of the Sports Club. It is wonderful to have kept the cricket section going.

Final League Standings:

Mayfield   449 pts
Sidley       441 pts
Bexhill     437 pts
