2 MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING ON MONDAY FEBRUARY 5, 2007
A copy of the minutes from the committee meeting on the above date was circulated and no alterations were requested.

3 CORRESPONDENCE
· Mr Woodroffe said that no correspondence had been received from the Sussex Cricket League.
· Mr Trevor Ramsden confirmed that Caburn had withdrawn from Division 11 of the East Sussex Cricket League – the division in which the third team will play - and that Hellingly III had offered to replace them.
· Mr Jamie Ramsden had been given a letter from the Hastings & District Cricket Association with regard to the midweek summer competitions. It was decided to enter a team in the lower tier Observer Cup by the deadline of Thursday March 15.

4 FIXTURES
Mr Trevor Ramsden announced that the club had been drawn away to Egham in the Bertie Joel Cup on May 23 with the winners away to Ford or Ardleigh Green.
He also said that Bexhill Athletic had enquired about the possibility of contesting a friendly on Sunday September 16 after their scheduled opponents on that date scratched.
Mr Ramsden confirmed that the Hastings & District Cricket Association will provide the opposition in the first match of Cricket Week on Tuesday July 31. He went on to suggest putting together a Chairman’s XI as opponents on Thursday August 2 after the already arranged fixture against Preston Nomads on Wednesday August 1.
The internal six-a-side day was moved to Sunday July 29.
The venues for the two third team fixtures against Chiddingly III had been swapped after Hastings Borough Council agreed for the club to use the Sandrock ground on Saturday May 19 - the date on which the away match was originally scheduled to take place.

5 FINANCIAL MATTERS
5a Treasurer’s report
· Mrs Mollart reported that the club had made a good profit from the race night on Saturday March 3.
· The club’s balance would therefore rise significantly when that money was banked the following day.
· Mrs Mollart also hoped to receive money from Sidley Sports Club over a double booking it made on the evening of the race night.
· She added that the first instalment of the players’ insurance is likely to come out of the account imminently.
· Mr Trevor Ramsden stated that concerns had been raised to him over the fact that people who sponsored a victorious horse at the race night did not receive any winnings. This matter would be addressed for subsequent race nights.
· Mr Ramsden stressed the need for further fund-raising events and several different options were debated.

6 THE GROUND
Mr Mollart said that some progress had been made with regard to the erection of a new practice net facility at the top of the ground. It was agreed to continue work at 9am on Saturday March 10 weather permitting with a view to reconvening seven days later and at the start of April.
Mr Galvin stated that the club would be welcome to apply for a Better Neighbour Grant from B&Q and asked Mr Trevor Ramsden to draw up a list of materials it would need.
Mr Ramsden added that pre-season rolling of the square should start within the next fortnight.

7 OVERSEAS PLAYER
Mr Woodroffe confirmed that the club had signed Australian Manjot Singh, a top order batsman and spin bowler who plays for New South Wales under-19s.
His flight will leave Sydney on Tuesday April 10 and arrive a day or two later.
His signing had been registered with the Sussex Cricket League.
He will be accommodated with Mr Woodroffe to begin with before moving to stay with Mr and Mrs Mollart. Mr Galvin offered to help out if space permits.
Mr Trevor Ramsden hoped that Mr Mark Gransden could offer him a day’s work each week coaching cricket at a school in New Romney.
Mr Woodroffe added that he is looking into the possibility of drafting in an English qualified player, probably from outside the area, on a temporary basis.

8 COLTS
Mr Trevor Ramsden said that he had entered a third colts’ team, with an under-10s side joining the already in situ under-12s and under-16s.
He understood that the club had lost young players Jake Beale, Alex Nicholas and Garth Baker to Bexhill Cricket Club.

9 SUSSEX/EAST SUSSEX CRICKET LEAGUES
No correspondence had been received from either league, although both will hold pre-season meetings during April.

10 ANY OTHER BUSINESS
Mr Milton had met a representative of Cricket Telecom in the hope of raising money for the club. It was decided to leave the matter in his hands.
Mr Woodroffe had spoken to the Bexhill-based Shiplu Tandoori Restaurant and will draft a letter requesting sponsorship in return for several players dining at the restaurant on various occasions during the season.
He also suggested getting the club badge emblazoned on 26 already purchased Rehmani cricket shirts and a yet-to-be-purchased baseball cap. Mr Newstead will pursue this with Super Stitch 86.
Mr Jamie Ramsden asked how far away the fixture cards are from being completed. They will be sent away to be printed soon.
Mr Trevor Ramsden said that no sponsorship money will be received from Sidley Sports Club this year.
Indoor net practice commenced on Sunday March 4 and the times for subsequent sessions are listed on this blogsite.
Mr Pearson stated that match fees from an indoor cricket fixture before Christmas are still missing. Mr and Mrs Mollart will investigate the matter.
Mr Pearson added that he is considering applying for a place on the executive committee of Sidley Sports Club. Mr Mollart said it was entirely up to him.

11 DATE OF NEXT MEETING
The next committee meeting will take place on Monday April 2 at Sidley Sports & Social Club from 7.30pm.
The meeting closed at 9.15pm.
