Sidley CC 77-3 (14 overs) - 30 points
Sidley showed that the 40-overs per side format continues to suit them with a crushing defeat of Heathfield Park 3rd XI at the Five Ashes Recreation Ground on Saturday.
Sidley won the toss and ran through the home side in just 31 overs, with Andy Pearson taking 5 wickets for 13 runs off 9 overs, 5 of which were maidens. Craig Ramsden took 2-4 off 7 overs, 5 of which were maidens.
In reply, Sidley lost Simon Newstead and Dave Coveney early on, but Josh Bull (15) and Mark Grandsen (25 n.o.) saw the visitors home in just 14 overs. The batsmen were aided with 23 extras from Heathfield Park.
This was a fine performance by Sidley, but the state of the home-side pitch did pose problems for all batsmen.
Sidley maintain their second place in the league, 1 point behind St. Peter's, who have a game in hand.
Next on the fixture-list is a home game this Saturday against Willingdon 3rd XI. After Saturday, there are only 4 fixtures left, with a free week on August 19th.
