Winning Start!

Sidley made a winning start to the 2015 East Sussex League Division 9 campaign with a 4-run victory over local rivals Crowhurst Park 3rd XI at Claremont School.

The home team elected to bat on a slow, damp pitch and were eventually all out for 164 - thanks to a 40-run last-wicket partnership. Craig Ramsden took 4-46 off 13 overs, Cavan O'Connor 3-56 off 14.3 overs, and Chris Milton 2-8 off 4 overs.

In response, Sidley got off to an uncertain start, with Chairman Ian Mollart and wicket-keeper Dane Capon both out cheaply, before Rory Capon (35), Pete Capon (44) and Josh Bull (48*) steadied the innings (with a useful 13* from Simon Newstead at the end), enabling Sidley to win with just 4 balls to spare! Captain Josh Bull accelerated the innings at just the right time.

This result followed a confidence-building win against Westfield the previous Sunday.  Sidley scored 144 (Cavan O'Connor 43; Chris Milton 33; Extras 21) before bowling out the home side for 126 (Craig Ramsden 3-33; Jacob McDonough 4-19).
