Opening League Fixtures - May 7th

RINGMER 2nd XI 142 (38.3 overs)  (30pts)   (Harry Little 5-14)

SIDLEY 1st XI 126 (24.2 overs)  (10 pts)       (Steve Ramsden 65)

After restricting the home side to a modest total, with Harry Little taking a spectacular 5-14 off 5.3 overs, the Sidley middle-order batting collapsed in equally spectacular fashion in the face of some testing bowling from Ringmer's Henry May (6-40). It was left to Steve Ramsden, with a hard-hitting 65, to take Sidley within a respectable distance of the home side's total.

PEVENSEY 3rd XI 198-7 (40 overs)  (10pts)   (Laurie Wray 2-17)

SIDLEY 2nd XI 48-2 (13.4 overs)  (10 pts)       (Alex Povey 18)

A heavy downpour at 5.10pm curtailed the opening game of the season at the Sandhurst Recreation Ground. The Sidley bowlers, after restricting the Pevensey batsmen in the early stages, were not able to maintain the initial tight grip in the later stages, and saw Pevensey set a more-challenging target than expected. In response, Sidley lost Ben Cole early on, but Nigel Cole and Alex Povey moved the score on to a respectable total before the rain intervened and left the pitch in a soggy state.
