Both Teams Suffer Defeat

Pevensey 2nd XI 166-9 (40 overs)  - 30 points

Sidley 1st XI 162 (39.5 overs)  - 12 points

In a very close, exciting game, Sidley ended 4 runs short of the home side's total. Having won the toss, Pevensey were restricted to a moderate score of 166, due to the tight bowling of Helen Harrod (3-39), Steve Ramsden (2-15) and Mark Gransden (2-31).

In reply, opener Dave Coveney hit a fine 41 for Sidley, but despite several other batsmen playing themselves in and moving into double figures, no-one, apart from Mark Gransden (27) was able to stay in long enough to move Sidley comfortably towards the winning total.

Pett 2nd XI 191-8 (40 overs)  - 30 points

Sidley 2nd XI  139 (38.2 overs)  - 9 points

With both teams fielding only ten players, Sidley 2nd XI went down by 52 runs to visitors Pett at the Sandhurst Recreation Ground. The visitors won the toss and batted, setting a challenging total of 191. Accurate bowling from Trevor Stanley (4-11 off 9 overs) and Trevor Ramsden (3-46) prevented Pett from reaching a much higher score.

Paul Oxborrow (28) and Josh Bull (31) set Sidley off on the run chase with some confidence, but then wickets fell regularly and before long it was clear that 191 was going to be well out of reach.

Very noticeably, "Extras" was the third top scorer for each team: Sidley contributing 28, and Pett 27.
