Burwash Weald 55 (22 overs) – 1 point
Sidley 58-1 for 7 (12.2 overs) – 30 points
A devastating career-best spell of 6-8 off 6 overs (two of which were maidens) demolished the Burwash batting at The Sandhurst Recreation Ground. Sidley opted to field first and were completely justified as wickets fell on a regular basis. Cavan O'Connor was well supported by Steve Ramsden (1-11), Craig Ramsden 1-9) and Mark Gransden (2-24). The highest individual score for Burwash was 15, with 11 extras in second place.
Sidley took little time in overtaking the opposition total. Dave Coveney led the way with an impressive 34 before being bowled just 8 runs off victory. Paul Oxborrow made a watchful 10 n.o., and Steve Ramsden a brisk 9.
This straightforward win had virtually secured the Division 12 East title for Sidley before their final fixture against Crowhurst Park 3rd XI at Claremont Junior School on September 1st. However, the team will be looking to finish in true style with an emphatic win against Crowhurst.
The team for the final match:
Josh Bull (Capt.), Craig Ramsden, Jacob McDonough, Dave Coveney, Steve Ramsden, Jamie Ramsden, Trevor Ramsden, Trevor Stanley, Cavan O'Connor, Dane Capon, Ryan Polton.
