Sidley hit top gear!

Sidley 287-6 (44 overs)  - 30 points

Uckfield Anderida 2nd XI  143 (39.4 overs)  - 9 points

Sidley gained a resounding victory at Uckfield, having been asked to bat first by the home side. Dave Coveney (22) and Simon Newstead put on 51 for the first wicket, with Simon himself eventually falling on 51. Paul Oxborrow went cheaply, but Josh Bull (33) and Steve Ramsden (82) accelerated the score on to 214 before Steve was eventually caught. Mark Gransden continued the good work with a valuable 36 n.o. Uckfield did not help themselves by conceding an eye-watering 45 extras, including 30 wides.

The large Sidley total was always going to be a difficult challenge for the home side, and they did find scoring difficult against the accurate bowling of Steve Ramsden (1-29), Cavan O'Connor (1-27), Mark Gransden (1-31), Helen Harrod (3-33: three of the first five batsmen), Trevor Ramsden (3-12) and Jacob McDonough (1-4).

This much-needed win sees Sidley move up into 5th place, 17 points behind the leaders, St. Peter's.

Next week, Sidley take on Maresfield 2nd XI at the Sandhurst Recreation Ground, hoping that this top form will continue.
