Rain thwarts Sidley

Wadhurst  104 (27.5 overs)  - 9 points

Sidley CC  56-1 (20 overs)  - 10 points

Unfortunately for Sidley, rain prevented them from gaining a likely victory at Wadhurst on Saturday. Having won the toss and asked the home team to bat first, opening bowlers Steve Ramsden (5-41) and Craig Ramsden made run-scoring difficult, with Cavan O'Connor (3-30) and Holly Harrod (2-4) offering excellent support. Wicket-keeper Dane Capon took three catches and a stumping. The only blight on the Sidley performance in the field was the 27 extras that turned out to be Wadhurst's second highest scorer.

Simon Newstead was bowled in the first over of the Sidley innings, and Dane Capon had to retire hurt after scoring just 6 runs, but then club chairman Ian Mollart (29 n.o.) and captain Josh Bull (14 n.o.) saw the total on to 56 in a business-like fashion before the heavens opened and the game had to be abandoned, with each side awarded 9 points.

Sidley will hope that the weather is kinder to them next week, when they play Buxted Park 3rd XI at the Sandhurst Recreation Ground.
