Batting lets Sidley down

Tunbridge Wells 4th XI  131-8 (48 overs)  - 30 points

Sidley CC  85 (32.1 overs)  - 8 points

Sidley won the toss again and asked the home team to bat first. Thanks to a lengthy, accurate spell of 19 overs for 40 runs and two wickets from Steve Ramsden, and 8 economical overs for 12 runs from Jim Stewart, Sidley managed to keep a reasonably tight hold on the Tunbridge Wells batsmen. Helen Harrod, Craig Ramsden (3-27), Mark Gransden (1-12) and Cavan O'Connor (2-12) all contributed well to ensuring an achievable total of 131 for Sidley to chase.

Simon Newstead and Dave Coveney made a good start, putting on 29 before Simon Newstead was out for 8. Unfortunately, the Sidley batting then struggled against some tidy bowling by the home side, with only Steve Ramsden (12)  and Mark Grandsen (11) managing to reach double figures, before all 10 wickets had fallen by the 33rd over.

Next week Sidley will need to be on top form as they take on league leaders St. Peter's at the Sandhurst Recreation Ground.
