Sidley CC 28-1 (4 overs) - 30 points
Unfortunately, Tunbridge Wells Borderers 3rd XI could only field 8 players, and that, coupled with some accurate bowling from Craig Ramsden and Cavan O'Connor, meant that there was little prospect of the match being a serious contest. The Borderers survived for only 13.2 overs in reaching a total of 27 (11 of which were extras). Craig took 4-11 off 7 overs (3 maidens), including a hat-trick, and Cavan 3-10 off 6.2 overs (3 maidens).
In reply, it took Sidley only 4 overs to pass the visitors' total. Simon Newstead ended on 11 n.o. and James Mott 3 n.o. Andy Hodges was out for 5.
All credit to Tunbridge Wells Borderers for travelling to The Ridge to fulfil the fixture. Many teams would have called off with so few players. Sidley benefited from the 30 points, but the game did not, unfortunately, provide the level of practice hoped for in the run-up to the all-important table-top clash with St. Peters in Brighton on September 2nd.
