Sidley v Mayfield 4th XI

Mayfield 4th XI  155-9 (40 overs)  - 9 points

Sidley CC  156-5 (34 overs)  - 30 points

Sidley continued to maintain their strong Division 10 title chase with a comfortable win against Mayfield at the Sandhurst Recreation Ground. Phil Bryant and Chris Hunnisett made guest appearances for the hosts and both made significant contributions to the result.

Having won the toss yet again, Craig Ramsden asked the visitors to bat first. However, after taking an early wicket, Sidley struggled to make an impact before Trevor Ramsden was brought into the attack, eventually taking 4-54. Mayfield then steadied their innings and managed to see out their 40 overs with a wicket to spare.

In reply, Sidley lost the early wickets of Dave Coveney and Paul Oxborrow, but Phil Bryant contributed a confident 20, Josh Bull a hard hitting 48, showing excellent placement of shots, and Chris Hunnisett a patient 23. Craig Ramsden and Jacob McDonough ensured that there were no slip-ups with a solid 15 n.o. and 19 n.o. respectively.

Sidley now have 3 matches left: Lewes Priory 2nd XI (A) next Saturday, a free week on the 19th (for crazy golf and fish and chips in Hastings), Tunbridge Wells Borderers 3rd XI (H) on the 26th, and a final game against St. Peter's 4th XI (A) on September 2nd - a clash that could well be the title decider.
