Sidley began the league season in impressive style in the sunshine at Glynde, posting a splendid 245-7, having been put in to bat, with several players showing good form: Simon Newstead (42); Josh Bull (39); Craig Ramsden (22); Mark Gransden (47) and Jacob McDonough (52).
In reply, Glynde and Beddingham put up strong early resistance, with one of their opening batsman eventually reaching 90, but the home team eventually fell 55 runs short on 190. Men of the match, Mark Gransden and Jacob McDonough did all the damage, with Mark taking 5-42 (13.5 overs) and Jacob 4-16 (5 overs).
After this first match, Sidley sit proudly at the top of Division 10, and look forward to hosting Heathfield Park 3rd XI next Saturday, 13th May.
