Sidley v. Wadhurst 3rd XI

Sidley lost by 6 wickets. (Wadhurst 27 pts; Sidley 14 pts.)

Sidley 226-7 dec. (46.5 overs).
Wadhurst 3rd XI 229-4 (44 overs)

After the previous week's impressive victory, Sidley lost ground in the league with a home defeat to 9-man Wadhurst.

The visitors won the toss and put Sidley in to bat. Thanks to valuable contributions from Mark Andy Hodges (21), Gransden (42), Craig Ramsden (61), Paul Oxborrow (39) and Jim Stewart (27 n.o.), Sidley reached a respectable 226 before declaring to leave extra overs in which to bowl out the opposition. However, the Wadhiurst batting turned out to be experienced and focused, and that, together with a shortage of straight, good-length bowling from the normally reliable Sidley bowlers, meant that the visitors passed the Sidley total with some ease in the 44th over. Once again, unfortunately, a visiting team benefited from a hefty contribution of Sidley extras to their total. Best of the sidles bowlers was Cavan O'Connor with 2-63 off 15 overs.
