Sidley v. Mayfield 4th XI

Sidley won by 7 wickets. (Mayfield 3 pts; Sidley 30 pts.)

Mayfield 4th XI 68 all out (40.1 overs)

Sidley 69-3 dec. (14.2 overs).

Sidley returned to winning ways after a comfortable victory against 8-man Mayfield at The Sandhurst Recreation Ground.

Sidley won the toss and put the opposition in. Mayfield batted very slowly against some tidy bowling from Cavan O'Connor (2-25 off 11 overs), James Mott (1-11 off 10 overs), Trevor Ramsden 0-6 off 8 overs, and Craig Ramsden, who bowled spin this week (3-10 off 10.1 overs).

In reply, Sidley moved towards the victory total with some difficulty against brisk, accurate bowling from the Mayfield team. Simon Newstead (21) and Paul Oxborrow (30 n.o.) both batted sensibly to achieve the win in the 15th over.

It was good to see again two former Sidley players who came out to watch the game and offer support - Bob Goodsell and Neil Priddy.
