Maresfield 208-3 (50 overs)
Sidley 101(30 overs)
Unfortunately, Sidley finished the season on a rather low note after a hefty 107 run defeat by Maresfield yesterday. The home side were invited to bat first and made the most of some poor fielding, including no less than 7 dropped catches. Craig Ramsden worked hard to take 2-47 of 15 overs.
In reply, the Sidley batting was fragile, and it was only a focused innings of 60 from Rory Capon that saved the visitors from an embarrassing final total. Phil Bryant was the only other batsman in double figures.
Sadly, the meagre total of 3 points gained from this performance, means that Sidley finish bottom of Division 9 and will compete in Division 10 next season. Bells Yew Green were comfortable winners of the league.
Despite this end-of-season low, well done to all who have played for Sidley this season and ensured that the club maintains its proud, historic place in Sussex cricket.
