Sidley win against Herstmonceux

Sidley bounced back from their defeat the previous week to record an exciting 36-run victory against Herstmonceux, taking the visitors' last wicket on the second ball of the final over.

Having been put in to bat by Herstmonceux, Sidley recorded a reasonable total of 168 all out off 47 overs, with Ian Mollart (23), Craig Ramsden (35) and Jacob McDonough (42) all making valuable contributions to the target. In reply, Herstmonceux pursued the total in a steady, businesslike manner without ever really threatening the Sidley total, although they did attack the bowling late in the innings to try to secure more batting points. Herstmonceux were all out for 132.

For Sidley, Cavan O'Connor took 4-28 off 10 overs, Craig Ramsden 3-46 off 14.2 overs, and Trevor Ramsden 3-45 off 15 overs. Jacob McDonough proved to be a very tidy wicketkeeper, letting through only 1 bye all innings; however, it was a pity, despite a strong breeze, that Sidley bowled 17 wides. Something to work on next match! This result keeps Sidley firmly in 2nd place in the league behind Bells Yew Green.

Club members will be pleased to hear that Andrew Hodges from Eastbourne has joined the Sidley team-squad.
