With several changes to the team that played the previous week, Sidley lost yesterday to league leaders Bells Yew Green by 43 runs. The home side were put in and scored 202-6 in their 50 overs. This total was, unfortunately, generously aided by 35 extras that proved to be second top scorer for the home side. In reply, Sidley could manage only 159 in 42 overs. Peter Capon held the Sidley scorecard together with a hard hitting 59, and Cavan O'Connor contributed a useful 32 towards the end of the innings.
A victory at home against Herstmonceux 2nd XI next week will be important to keep us in touch with the league leaders. After yesterday's match we are 36 points behind Bells Yew Green and 6 ahead of Maresfield, who are in 3rd place.
