Cavan and Trevor see Sidley home to victory

In a very exciting pre-season opener at Westfield, Sidley squeezed home to victory by one wicket with only a handful of overs remaining.

Batting first, Westfield made 171 all out, with Craig Ramsden taking 2-7 and father, Trevor, 2-20. In reply, Sidley were coasting to victory on 90-2, but after several rushes of blood to the head, wickets were needlessly given away, and it was left to Cavan and Trevor with some admirably patient and cautious batting to see us home to victory by the narrowest of margins. Craig Ramsden scored 45, Dane Capon 43 and Cavan O'Connor 38 n.o.

Next week, Sidley take on Bexhill V at Sandrock in the first league match of the season.
