Present :- Ian Mollart, Ross Settles, Trevor Ramsden, Steve Ramsden, Brad Holt, Chris Hunnisett, Jamie Ramsden, Peter King, Cavan O'Connor Jnr., Jenny Mollart.
Extraordinary Executive Committee Meeting:
This meeting has been arranged for Monday 9th February and there is a promotion on drinks going on during any live football matches.
Correspondence:
Thakeley Cricket Club are on tour and will play us in a midweek fixture. There is also a Sussex over 70s game against a team from Hertfordshire scheduled for the summer. Andy Hodder’s primary school finals to be held at Sidley in June.
Captain's Discussion:
The committee felt that it would be a very good idea to invite first team Captain Neil Priddy to the meeting to discuss his ideas for the new season. Neil felt that, in terms of an overseas player, he needed a bowler who could also bat.
Overseas Player:
We are still looking for an overseas player. Scott has one player in mind from Australia. Ian Mollart asked Brad if he had anyone in mind who would come over to Sidley. Brad to have a look. Peter King to ring Sam in Australia to see if he can find someone for us. Mrs Bellfield to be contacted about accommodating the overseas player.
East Sussex League Report:
Third team to continue to play at Sandrock. We might have to change ground for the last game of season.
Sussex League Report:
We might have to supply our own umpire in games. Umpire must have passed exams. The first team are not entered for the Sussex Cup this year.
Fixtures:
There are still a few Sundays free. Sidley Working Men’s Club to be asked about playing against the football club. Bexhill Athletic might use the ground on a few dates. Cricket Week has been arranged: Brighton Nomads and Hastings Cricket Association.
August Tour:
The tour is to Gloucestershire. Deposit is needed for hotel and at least 20 people hoping to go on tour. Each player’s deposit to be discussed at the players’ meeting on Monday, February 23rd.
Treasurer’s Report:
Jenny informed the meeting of the club funds available in the bank, but we still have to pay £245.50 for indoor cricket. There was a kind donation from the Xmas Quiz.
Colts
We are hoping to get a Club Mark and there is plenty of work involved. The club Constitution is being checked. Ian, Trevor and Jackie to attend meeting with I. Newman soon. Jackie to attend 4 day course at Hove. Simon Funnell hoping to find us a coach for the colts. Peter King was asked to act as figurehead, but he declined. Brad Holt will help if needed. A meeting for the colts as to be arranged. It was noted that the U.16’s kit-bag had been stolen from the shed.
Ground:
Brian Fletcher has spiked the ground and will be coming back soon to finish off the work. He still has not been fully paid for his work. Trevor requires seed for pitches, and ground equipment – some current equipment is in a poor state of repair.
A.O.B
Indoor nets have been booked (thank you, Jamie) for 10th March (7-8pm) and successive weeks. Our midweek indoor side are top of the league. The weekend side are mid-table. We are hoping to arrange a joint football and cricket race night in the near future. It is Pete and Chris’s Quiz Night next week, and all players are asked to attend. Chris Hunnisett has been asked to produce fixture-cards for the new season. Fundraising and sponsorship was discussed: we are waiting for the players’ meeting for further ideas.
The meeting closed at 9.20pm
