1 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE
Apologies were received from Mrs Jenny Mollart.

2 MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING
The minutes of the committee meeting on Monday April 7, 2008 were circulated and no alterations were requested.

3 MATTERS ARISING
Mr Mollart confirmed that new scorebooks had been purchased.
Mr Bradley Holt, an Australian conditional player, had been collected from the airport on the morning of the meeting.
Sidley CC won the Roy Ransom Trophy, a night of crib, darts, dominoes and pool involving Sidley CC, Sidley United Football Club and Sidley Games Section, on Monday April 21.
Mr Mollart is to speak to the various captains about players’ subscriptions as they have been coming in slowly so far. A list of those people still to pay will be displayed on the noticeboard in a fortnight.

4 EXECUTIVE REPORT
Mr King stated that nothing occurred of any relevance to the club at the last meeting of the executive committee.

5 EAST SUSSEX LEAGUE
Mrs Mollart and Mrs Jackie Ramsden collected the third team’s match balls for the 2008 season at the league’s pre-season meeting.
Team sheets will need to be completed in East Sussex League matches this year and sides must arrive at the ground at least half-an-hour before the start of play. Teams will also be punished for slow over rates.

6 SUSSEX LEAGUE
Mr Mollart had received several e-mails from the club’s Sussex League representative, Mr Chris Milton, one of which stated that the league’s dinner/dance will take place on Friday October 17 at a venue to be confirmed.

7 OVERSEAS PLAYER
Mr King is to send letters to the individual bonus sponsors of overseas player Mr Elliot Bullock by the weekend. Eight of the targeted 10 sponsors are in place.
Mr Bullock was invited to join the meeting and was asked by Mr King how he would prefer to receive payment from his individual bonus sponsors. He said on a monthly basis.
Mr King told Mr Bullock to consult any member of the committee should he have any problems or queries at any stage.
Mr Settles asked Mr Bullock how things have been so far. Mr Bullock said it’s been good fun and that he hopes results will start to pick up.
Mr King mentioned that Mr Bullock had begun lodging with the mother of club player Mr Phil Belfield. Rent is to be paid fortnightly.
Mr Trevor Ramsden said that Mr Bullock is the best worker the club has had of any overseas player he can remember.
Mr King is to raise the issue of payment to Mr Bullock for his part-time work on the ground at the next meeting of the executive committee.

8 TREASURER’S REPORT
Mr Bullock had been paid £500 towards the cost of his flight.
The bill for indoor nets had been paid and a slight profit was made. Mr King thanked Mr Jamie Ramsden for booking the sessions.
Mr Mollart said the only bill still to be paid is one of £30 to the Hastings & District Cricket Association to enter the midweek Observer Cup.
Mr King said that the first team had sold a football card after each of its matches so far and hopes that will continue throughout the club for the remainder of the season.
Mr King had decided to waive the match fees of Mr Dan Auer given that he is travelling to matches from the Isle of Wight. Mr Trevor Ramsden suggested doing the same with Mr Guy Montgomery, who will be coming from the far side of the county. The meeting agreed.
Mr O’Connor asked how much it costs to sponsor a cricket ball. Mr Mollart is to draw up a fixture list and Mr Jamie Ramsden is to sell each match at a cost of £10.
The club is still to receive payment for hosting a match between Sussex University and Reading University nine days previously. Two more university games are scheduled for the ground at a cost of £100 each, plus £50 for teas.

9 FIXTURES
Mr Trevor Ramsden had received replies from The Legion CC and Tenterden CC confirming the dates of Sunday friendly matches.
Robertsbridge CC said it enjoyed the pre-season friendly matches and hopes to put in place a similar arrangement for next year.
Mr Pearson asked if the colts’ fixtures are all in place. Mr Trevor Ramsden said he intends to withdraw the under-10s team from its league due to a lack of players.
Police checks were carried out on 10 club members the previous week.

10 ANY OTHER BUSINESS
Mr Settles said that the tour to Scotland arranged for August is still going ahead as planned, but anybody interested needs to sign up and commit themselves. Mr Jamie Ramsden said we need to advertise it on the noticeboard.
Playing shirts have been produced and handed out. Thanks to Mr Newstead and Mr Scott Woodroffe.
Mr Settles asked if any more work needs doing on the ground and if it’s worth setting up another work party following that which painted the changing rooms on Saturday April 19. Mr Ramsden said that one or two things still need doing but he will get round to doing them himself in due course.
Mr Settles asked how well off the club is in terms of players. Mr King said the club is better off than last year. Mr Ramsden said that he had received good reports on the performances of colt players, but St Luke’s CC will no longer be joining.
The club is to write a letter which will go to the executive committee following poor behaviour from certain people watching the previous day’s Bertie Joel Cup match against Cambridge Granta CC. The club is also to write a letter to the Cambridge player injured during the match and apologising for the conduct of certain individuals watching the game.
Mr Jamie Ramsden said he had tried to fix the netting on the perimeter of the ground and will attempt to make further improvements.
The club had received a complaint from a neighbouring resident about a ball struck into the gardens causing a breakage during the Sunday friendly against Robertsbridge CC two days previously. £10 was taken out of the till to pay for the damage.
The possibility of taking the colts’ section to the Friends Provident Trophy tie between Sussex Sharks and Essex Eagles at Horntye Park Sports Complex, Hastings, on Bank Holiday Monday May 26 was discussed. Mr Mollart is to display a poster promoting the match within the next week.

11 DATE OF NEXT MEETING
The next committee meeting will take place on Monday June 2, 2008 at 7.30pm.
The meeting closed at 8.48pm.
