Sidley 1st XI - 219-8
Bexhill 1st XI - 218-7
It was a thrilling final day in the league season as we shared the points with our local rivals. Joey and Peter held the innings together with 80 and 51 respectively, and then Peter went on to take 5-42 and Scott 2-24.
Well done to all of those who have played for the 1st team in the league. We have done brilliantly to finish 6th in the league after all the gloomy forecasts way back at the AGM!! Great credit is due to Scott for captaining the side to their best position in the last six years.
Bexhill 2nd XI - 201
Sidley 2nd XI - 161-9
An entertaining game also at the Polegrove, as we managed to hold on for a well-deserved draw. Paul took 6-50 off 21 overs and Trevor 2-57, as veteran John Holland held the Bexhill innings together. In-form skipper, Steve, compiled 33 for us, Craig 26, Paul 23, Bob 15 and Pete 11.
Although the 2nd team have had a tough season and finished at the foot of Division 2, they have stuck to the task well, and given plenty of opportunities to the younger players to gain valuable experience for the future. Particular thanks to Steve for captaining the side, often under difficult circumstances.
Sidley 3rd XI - 75
Maresfield 2nd XI - 77-1
After the previous week's exploits, the 3rds came back to earth with a thump, finding the Maresfield pitch less than friendly. Paul (21), Neil (13) and Kevin (8*) added valuable runs to take the score from 58-9 to 75, but the home side passed our total in just 10 overs.
It was a disappointing end to the season, but everyone has enjoyed the games, and there have been some real highlights. Again, it has been great to see the youngsters having the chance to gain some experience, albeit on some pretty testing pitches at times!
Thanks to St. JM Jacobeans being unable to raise a team in their final game, we managed to lift ourselves off bottom spot!
Many thanks to Robin for captaining the side and making all the necessary match arrangements throughout the summer.
