Cricket Committee Minutes - August

SIDLEY CRICKET CLUB COMMITTEE
Minutes of the committee meeting held on Monday August 13, 2007 at Sidley Sports & Social Club.

PRESENT: Ian Mollart (chairman), Andy Pearson (vice-chairman), Mrs Jenny Mollart (treasurer), Trevor Ramsden (groundsman).
Committee members: Simon Newstead, Cavan O’Connor, Jamie Ramsden, Ross Settles.

1 MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING The minutes of the committee meeting on Monday July 9, 2007, were circulated and approved.

2 CORRESPONDENCE
None reported.

3 SUSSEX/EAST SUSSEX LEAGUES
Mr Ramsden revealed that the ground had been given an overall rating of basic from a preliminary test carried out under the ECB/IOG Performance Quality Standard Table.
Mr Ramsden confirmed that the club is joint third in the Sussex League’s mid-season pitch markings based on umpires’ reports.

4 FINANCIAL MATTERS Tea money for the cancelled third team fixture against St JM Jacobeans B has been paid.

5 ANY OTHER BUSINESS Mr Pearson produced a document from the Department of Transport stating that any child up to the age of 12 or 4”6” in height requires a booster seat when travelling by car. Mr Mollart will look into the matter, bearing in mind that the club fielded a team at under-10s level this season.
Mr Pearson expressed his concern at colts practising adjacent to the pitch without adequate protection and the possible repercussions in the event of an injury. Mr Trevor Ramsden said he will speak to the colts about the issue at training the following evening.
Mr Settles mentioned that Mr Tony Galvin knew of an Eastbourne second team player who may be interested in joining the club. Mr Ramsden had spoken to Mr Phil Belfield about the player in question and that he would be of first team standard. Mr Ramsden suggested telling Mr Galvin that the club would be delighted to welcome the player and petrol expenses would be available.
Mr Jamie Ramsden suggested the club ought to think about booking indoor nets and searching for an overseas player soon. He will enquire about the cost of net sessions at Horntye Park Sports Complex in Hastings.
Mr Trevor Ramsden said a fixture had been arranged for the coming Friday against a touring side and that any help would be greatly appreciated.
Mr Trevor Ramsden stated that holes have developed in the cover and that repairs are necessary. He added that we will get by for another couple of years, but a new one will be needed after that.
Mr Trevor Ramsden had received a telephone call from the Co-Op asking if the club would be willing to provide three colts to help with the opening of their new shop in Pebsham in return for £250. It was intended to print "Co-Op", as sponsor,on the junior cricket shirts.
Mr Mollart enquired about the progress of the net practice facility at the top of the ground. Mr Pearson had searched on the internet for a mat and had come up with a price of £400 inclusive of delivery. Mr Mark Gransden has a net of usable quality at the school at which he works in New Romney. Mr Trevor Ramsden to speak to Mr Gransden about its collection.
The presentation night has been pencilled in for Saturday November 10th at Sidley Sports & Social Club, although alternative venues will be explored by Mr and Mrs Mollart.
Mr Jamie Ramsden complained about the amount of kit left in the changing rooms after matches. Mr Mollart to speak to the offending parties.
Mr Jamie Ramsden confirmed that the club had entered one team in the Hastings & District Cricket Association-run Midweek Indoor League and another in the Weekend Indoor League during the coming winter. Both will play in Division Two.

The next committee meeting will take place on Monday September 10, 2007.
