Sidley 3rd XI: 131
Newick Nomads: 132-6
We found the pitch on the picturesque Laughton ground a difficult one, with the ball not quite coming on to the bat, and a very low bounce. Bob scored a useful 17, but the other batsmen found it tough going. Ross played a determined, patient innings of 38* and Neil, batting at number 11, contributed a very valuable 25 to help post a reasonable challenge.
Newick found the pitch equally difficult and won home with only a handful of overs to spare. Simon (1-62 off 17 overs) and Adam (4-37 off 13) both bowled with great accuracy, and stamina, on what must have been one of the hottest days of the year, and Gareth (1-15) contributed some testing overs for the batsmen.
Although the outcome was disappointing, we were pleased that we were able to make a game of it, something that had not looked possible during the early part of our innings.
